http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/4/3/f/a/event_211817402.jpegA resident of Kutztown, Robyn Jasko is a knowledgeable and fun local-foods activist, community garden starter, author and entrepreneur. In 2009, she cofounded goindie.com, an organization and website that supports sustainable lifestyles, homesteading, eating well, and living local. Check out her blog on the site and you’ll see headlines like “save the kales”, a review of “diy-craftyness” in the Kutztown area, and an interview with founder of Victory Garden for Tomorrow. You’ll also see announcement of her book, Homesweet Homegrown: How to Grow, Make and Store Food, No Matter Where You Live, published just last year. A reviewer aptly describes it, “This warmly written, sweetly illustrated little book is as exhaustive as it is friendly. Robyn covers absolutely everything you need to prepare yourself for a life of cheap, fresh, delicious food.” It is a great little book, packed with good info that’s super well organized and easy to follow!
Over the past decade, Robyn has written about sustainable living, gardening and travel destinations, on and off the beaten path, for national and international media including Handpicked Nation, The Reading Eagle, The Utne Reader, Grist, Organic Gardening Magazine, Save the Kales TV Show, The Morning Call, Boulder Weekly, The Huffington Post, Prevention Magazine, Food in Jars, and more.
We are delighted to have Robyn as our speaker for the March 26 meeting! If you’d like a copy of her book, they will be available at the meeting for $10 or you can order in advance from Amazon, “Homesweet Homegrown: How to Grow, Make and Store Food, No Matter Where You Live.” And Robyn’s happily agreed to do a book signing after her talk.
After the meeting, plan to stick around and chat with friends old and new. We’re also interested in your ideas for MAREA speakers, activities and services. Light snacks will be served. Hope to see you there. For questions, contact Vera Cole,[masked] or [masked].
