Offshore Wind Blowing Our Way

Offshore wind is critical to our Renewable Energy future. Finally that future is blowing our way. The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities has just has just awarded Atlantic Shores the contract to build 1.5GW of clean energy off the coast of New Jersey. Learn first hand about developing the first large scale offshore wind project in the United States.

Doug Copeland, Atlantic Shores Development Manager will present the benefits of offshore wind, the 35 studies completed for their Federal Construction and Operations filing, ongoing studies, what’s involved in choosing a particular technology, and Atlantic Shores overall plan to build and operate this offshore wind project.

Doug Copeland, Atlantic Shores Development Manager

Doug Copeland has worked in the renewable energy industry for over 15 years, leading development efforts in onshore and offshore wind, solar and energy storage. Currently, Mr. Copeland oversees the development and overall portfolio of Atlantic Shores with a focus on the pre-financial stage. In this role, Mr. Copeland leads the interconnection strategy, fishing industry engagement, oversees real estate efforts, external affairs, government relations, and port strategy. His work also includes serving on national offshore wind industry boards and advisory committees in New York, New Jersey and Maryland. Prior to his career in the renewable energy industry, Mr. Copeland ran a nationally recognized economic development program.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from Villanova University and a master’s degree from Boston College.
