Bringing Permaculture to Your Home and Garden
June 27 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Permaculture has many benefits for your home and garden. It has also evoked a variety of responses and applications. Dan Jones, in discussion with Diana Ortiz Burns, brings his long experience creating garden landscapes to introduce the opportunities and benefits of permaculture. Dan will cover the many definitions and expressions of permaculture. What permaculture is, what it isn’t, and its core tenets will be answered. A framework for applying these principles, along with case studies will help you find actionable ways to improve the health of your home and garden.

Daniel Jones is the Operations Manager for Eden Design Group LLC (Maryland), where he was brought on to build the infrastructure and processes desired to grow that business. In 2001 he started his own lawn and landscaping business which he operated for 20 years. Over those two decades operating and growing his business he gained experience creating complementary systems for landscape and hardscapes to thrive in the varied conditions of subtropical Florida. Since moving to Maryland he has worked to understand the states unique ecology as well as its flora as he advises on new construction performed by Eden Design.
He is a proponent of renewable energy where feasible and believes homeowners and businesses alike should look for solutions in their hard and soft-scaping which will provide long term benefits to the ecology as well as eliminate wear and tear on structures.
He served on the advisory committee for Orlando City Commissioner Tony Ortiz in District 2 speaking not just on community and policing issues but advocating and advising for common sense approaches to landscape and building codes.
